| Information on the village of Inverarnan on the West Highland Way in Scotland UK. |
|
The village is situated at the south end of Glen Falloch and just beyond the northern point of Loch Lomond. It sits on the banks of the River Falloch, which flows into Loch Lomond. The Inverarnan 'Drovers Inn', is one of the best known pubs in Scotland. It has a room or two with a sign on the door saying 'Haunted Room' - I suppose you can guess the reason for the sign. Why folk are eager to stay there beats me, but they never seem to be short of guests. I have seen old photographs of the place and it looked old even then. Everything in it is old, it has the oldest atmosphere of any pub that I've ever visited - I hasten to add that I didn't spend the night there. It's full of old animal heads and trophies, even a two headed lamb, and has a stuffed moth eaten bear standing chained in the hallway. Although the bar is welcoming and intimate, and walkers love to gather there, overall - it's a weird place! There is a spacious camp site next to the village.
